About Us
The Old Scotch Symphony Orchestra (OSSO) was founded in 2013, to continue the musical tradition fostered within the James Forbes Academy. Today, many musical Old Boys and friends play in the orchestra, uniting through their passion for performing great music. Guided by a committee led by Old Boys and friends, OSSO seeks to bring musical fulfilment to audiences and players through community, collaboration and camaraderie. Each concert showcases vibrant and spirited orchestral masterpieces, and they are a great opportunity to share a relaxing afternoon with family and friends.

Echoes of Legends
OSSO’s second symphonic concert of the year brings you an evening of heroes, myths, and unforgettable melodies. From Kabalevsky’s spirited Colas Breugnon Overture to the sweeping grandeur of Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances and Williams’ Star Wars Suite, this program is a celebration of storytelling through orchestral sound. At its heart, clarinetist Brendan Toohey joins the orchestra for Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto – a moment of pure lyrical beauty amid the epics. Join us as OSSO brings these legends to life.
